What days do you pick up trash?
Trash is collected twice a week: every Tuesday and Friday.
We do not pick up:
– Building or construction materials
– Hazardous materials (such as paint, oil, or chemicals)
– Old computer and electronic devices
Bulk trash (large items like furniture or appliances) is collected on the first Wednesday of each quarter. Please do not put your bulk trash out at the curb earlier than 24 hours prior to scheduled pick up.
Yard waste is collected as well. If the yard waste is in approved bags, it will be picked up on trash days. If it is in bulk, the town will pick up within the week that it is put out. Please call the office if you have questions.
What if a holiday falls on a trash pick up day?
If a holiday falls on a Tuesday or Friday, that trash pick up day will be skipped and will resume on the next business day schedule.
What about recycle?
Although the town does not manage recycle, we do recommend that you take your recycling to the county recycling center, which is free to drop off. Information here: Hertford County Dump, 231 Mt Moriah Rd, Ahoskie, NC 27910. More information here.
How do I pay my water bill?
You can pay with check or money order via the mail or with check, money order, or cash at the town hall. Be on the lookout, as the town will soon accept credit card payments.
How do I establish new water and trash service?
We have a form you need to complete that will require a deposit. The fees are as follows: rental properties – $75 homeowners – $100 rental properties – $200 businesses. Please complete the form and bring it along with your deposit to the town hall for processing.
What do I do if I am having problems with my water service?
If the problem is during office hours, please call the town hall at 252-358-3041. If it is after hours, please call the afterhours service at 252-358-0232 and leave a description of the problem. The person on call will be paged to manage the issue.
What are the business hours of the town hall?
Monday – Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, closed 1-2 for lunch.
When are the town council meetings?
The first Monday of every month starting at 7 pm at the town hall. All are welcome.

How do I rent the community center?
The community center is available for a daily rental fee of $250, which includes a $50 refundable deposit. We have a rental agreement you will need to complete and bring to the town hall for scheduling.
